TCPA Spring Conference: Garden Cities - Plan & Deliver

Join us at the TCPA Spring Conference 'garden cities - plan & deliver' on the 26th March at One Whitehall Place, London.

DatesTo be confirmed.
LocationOne Whitehall Place, London SW1

Planning doesn't seem to be out of the headlines for long at the moment. Just as we were getting into the swing of the latest series of reforms, including the Growth and Infrastructure Bill and the Taylor Review of planning policy, along comes the Deputy Prime Minister and Planning Minister's calls for a 21st century garden cities and suburbs.

The TCPA has strongly welcomed Clegg's and Boles' comments and marks this down as the latest success in our longstanding Garden Cities campaign. It builds upon the Prime Minister's support for Garden Cities announced last March; recognition of the Garden City principles in the Government's National Planning Policy Framework; and support for 'locally planned large-scale development' in the Housing Strategy launched last November 2011.

This timely conference will build upon the latest announcements and take the debate to the next step – the planning and delivery of 21st century garden cities and suburbs. The TCPA will be launching a new garden cities guide for local authorities at the conference and we have an excellent line-up of speakers who will focus on the practical aspects of delivery including leadership, planning, land assembly, finance, skills and delivery.

Speakers include:

  • Lee Shostak, TCPA Chairman
  • Nick Boles MP, Planning Minister
  • Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP, TCPA Vice President and Trustee
  • Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Leader, Fareham Borough Council
  • Richard Hill, Deputy Chief Executive, Homes and Communities Agency
  • Rachel Fisher, Head of Homes and Land, National Housing Federation
  • John Lewis, Chief Executive, Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation
  • Stephen Haverin, Director of Investment, First Ark Group
