The APaNGO project is one of the first studies of community engagement and involvement at the European level, covering the findings from studies of the seven Member States in North West Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, and the UK) and analysis of the responses to an extensive questionnaire survey.

The final APaNGO project report details a series of recommendations which the partners consider to be essential for effective participation in planning, both in terms of creating better quality planning decisions and outcomes, and in terms of principles of fairness and transparency – all of which are essential in supporting the contribution of planning to sustainable development.

Copies of the final report and summary report in Dutch, French and German can be downloaded from the APaNGO project website at www.apango.eu
